Domain filtering
Checks names against lists
Known phishing domains, mixed ad and tracking lists
New or unlisted threats and same-domain ads can get through.
KIARA / VPN
Filtering decides which domain requests to stop. A VPN carries allowed traffic through a tunnel. Neither can promise that every message, website or device is safe.

A separate route across hotel or other access networks
The VPN provider becomes a trusted party. It is not complete anonymity.
No unnoticed fallback in the candidate’s ordinary forwarding path
Real-device leak and throughput tests are still pending.
Proton documents downloading WireGuard configurations, including Free-plan options. Kiara will use a user-provided file; it does not ask for your Proton account password. Compatibility and performance on C126 still need a physical pilot.
The Free plan’s available features differ from paid plans. Kiara’s local filter is separate from Proton NetShield; Free access does not include every paid filtering option.
Kiara is an independent project. No Proton partnership or certification is claimed. Links on this page are ordinary links, without affiliate tracking.
A compatible personal WireGuard profile is another route. A second independent Free provider is still being qualified; we will list it only with evidence. No shared VPN credentials are bundled with the device.
Mobile data, a phone’s own VPN, Private DNS, Private Relay or app-specific encrypted DNS can change the traffic path. The pilot will report these cases separately.
